Creative photography #5

This week's submittal for Roger's Creative Photo Contest is really simple. An evening photo out the front door after a few hours of snow. There is a surreal feel to this shot as the street light only enhances the freshly fallen winter precip.

There is always the after-the-snow niceties. The air is crisper and cleaner than ever, the shadows of the branches appear as a web on the snowy blanket. Even the mini Alps along the curb left by the plow have not yet been tainted by road sand. The best part of winter are those times just after the snow falls.

I think that is just lovely, Ralph. I like the sepia tones and the shadows of the tree branches on the snow!

I love this pict. It is creepy scary, like a horror movie but at the same time it has that very peaceful serene feel. Great work and great entry to the contest.

'just after the snow falls' would look wonderful engraved under a huge framed version of this photo

just sayin'

there is a tiny peep of light (another streetlight?) between the 2 trees that I couldn't stop looking at.

Nice photo Ralph! If it weren't for the snow it would make for a great All Hallow's Eve photo.

I agree with your description. The air is crisp and fresh after a snowfall like that. Everything twinkles and it is quite magical.

Good Luck!
Blessings,
Kimmie

Dianne, it is another house I think, unless it is the flash from another daft photographer taking a picture of the snow :>)

This is a great photo for a hot summer day! I love the way the shadows are cast across the smooth snow plowed street. I love your reference to mini alps.

It almost looks like a painting ! very creative !

PS my picture doesn't show trees but rocks in a grotto as I said, there are just some bushes around.

Beautiful, moody atmosphere. And I love the sense of a breathless moment!

Nice entry. I miss the snow very much! You're right - just after the snowfall, when all is still hushed, is one of my favorite times to be outside.
Good luck in the contest!
