Looking at the Sky - Marconi

Tish is on to something with her meme Looking at the Sky. You can see lots of moods in the skies that aren't necessarily blue. This example was from the Cape Cod National Seashore, and at the Marconi Beach - this is the place Marconi sent his first wireless communication to Europe in 1903. These forty foot high dunes are so rough hewn and natural with their grasses and ground shrubbery - a non cultivated beauty. But what of the sky? It is in August 2001 and the oceanic clouds have covered the sandbar known as the Cape. The sky has deposited a briny fog of sorts over the land, and this is the case where it is 15°F cooler here than the 45 air miles north to Boston, where no doubt it is sunny and warm. Bur for the sun to be hiding, the sky and terrain form a view that is probably closer to the shores of Eire and Scotland (and I would love to visit both someday!). A unique view of the combination of turf and sky. See many more sky captures at Tish's site!

I went to Marconi Beach once, Ralph, and it was absolutely gorgeous; I've always wanted to go again. There's something about standing at the very edge of the country and looking out across the ocean that makes a person feel very small and yet very special at the same time.

Have a great Friday the 13th!

Ralph, you know so much about the sky and the earth... Your description of my "Looking at the Sky on Friday" post is on the money. It's right off the sound next to the Cross Island Parkway! Didn't know you knew so much about our environment! :)

Oh how I miss Cape Cod. The west coast just doesn't have beaches like that... Here in the northern part of the state, the coast line is rocky or a high rocky drop off. They are awesome sights, but nothing like the Cape.

I've never been before! This is a wonderful shot, though. It is amazing how the sky can look so different. Great perspective with an awesome photo to boot! Thanks,
Tisha

Hi Ralph, thank you for showing where Marconi was when he was sending his message. I have never been to Cape Cod and had forgotten, if I ever knew, about Marconi having been there.
Happy sky 'Looking,' I have a couple of back porch shots on either blog (Little Blog has a journal entry also).
