Shadow Shot Sunday - Monday Miscellany

Last Monday was a mixture of activity on the MLK holiday and I was not working. The plan today was simple: Bring the check to the van converter for my new/used wheelchair van and bring the kiddies back to the University of Hartford after the winter break.

I thought to bring the camera, and of course, Tracy's fun Shadow Shot Sunday might have been a reason why I chose to bring the digital photographic unit along. Actually, the best :>)

I have been working with the dealer, Advanced Wheels in East Granby, since 1996 - an excellent company to do business with. The plant by the door of their waiting area is a well defined shadow.

The 2008 Dodge will be my new steed, and my current ride has over 156000 miles (252000 km), and is a truck This one is much nicer, is smaller, has lower mileage and uses much less fuel.

The shadow underneath is from the ramp for access. Happily we were offered credit at most favorable terms...The wheelchair driver work will be completed in March.

The university is only about 15 minutes from the dealer. Today was move-back day for students after the 4-5 week break, and both kids were more than ready for much work mixed in with their fun activities, notably the TV station and pep band. A mostly cloudy day, the sun appeared as the students reappeared. This is Cameron's on-capus apartment with sunny shadows...

Chasing shadows are a fun avocation, see the wide (and) wild variety at this excellent meme!

Your new steed looks a mighty fine beast - I can imagine that you are impatient to get behind the wheel. Your children are certainly privileged to attend such a fine university - what a lovely apartment block. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Happy SSS to you.

You have to wait until March for your conversion? That seems a long time.
As to the previous post, you are pretty poetic and thoughtful too. I had forgotton what a long break some college kids get. One son had six weeks to work at the ski area when there was snow. He and I commuted together. Memories.

Oh, how I can relate to the "move-back-to-campus-and-back-home" routine! One of mine graduated last May. The other is in Boston in her junior year.

Congrats on your new wheels! Hope they roll you along for many a safe mile!

Best to you and yours,
Pagan Sphinx

Congratulations on your new wheels, Ralph! And you were so smart to take your camera to catch the plant shadow. Yep, chasing shadows is a fun avocation!

Nice wheels, wish my steed was as easy on the gas, but she holds loads of furniture, so I'll forgive her shortcomings, she never fails...fun shots!

Now that's a fine looking car there Ralph. Congrats! I see a man reflected in the side of the car. He appears to be quite intrigued with you taking a photo! The plant shadows in the waiting room are lovely too! Lucky Cameron! That looks like a nice spot to live. Returning after such a long break must be difficult. Good to hear that the students were all more than ready for the year ahead :)

That looks like it will be a great vehicle to fit your needs and we all need lower gas mileage

It was always strange taking my daughter back to college after a break and I guess it is the same here. You kind of great used to them being gone and then they come back and you really enjoy that so it's a little sad bringing them back again.

My daughter is finally back at least close enough to drive the 5 hours and see her. Much closer that Oklahoma.. Thank you for your thoughtful comments always.. Michelle

Shadows can be fun to look for.

I wish I had gotten a wheelchair van years ago when my husband was wheelchair bound. I struggled for so long getting him in and out of the car. Of course we laughed a lot about that too. He was a true sport.
So have fun in your new steed---ol' shiny black. MB
