Ruby Tuesday - And the band played on...

The wheelchair tends to seat me lower to the floor. At the top of my head, I sit a shade under 53" (135 cm) from the surface. So my perspective often appears off-centered or skewed. Like here...

Mary's Ruby Tuesday is a fun meme where seeing red is actually good thing. This is at a U-of-Hartford men's basketball game last year. I was aiming for the scoreboard on the student end of the Chase Arena, but captured some of the pep band. I aimed up per my usual low height and always seated posture. Wow, that seems steep! Although that is merely a matter of perspective...

See rubies galore at this fine meme!

Hi Ralph, this is a nice pretty red there on the score board. It is nice that you can attend the U of H (my U of H is the University of Houston) basketball games.

My Picasa says it can do a straightening alignment, I have never tried that feature out.

Happy RT! Stay warm!

I like the context of having the band in the photo. It gives it more of the story.

I've straightened photos many times using Picasa... But I wouldn't want to straighten this pic Ralph. The angle adds to the shot! :)

Hi, Mr. Ralph,
Now, I think this is an excellent shot! Many times, if I am taking photos of something fairly common, I like tilting my camera here and yon to try for more interest. I like this one a LOT.

The angle is fine. great logo. Red is often used in logo, isn't it?

I agree with the others; the angle just gives it life. :) And yeah, that is an awesome logo they've got there.

I'm often been seated in some ridiculous places too. I'm visually impaired (they don't want to seat half blind peeps in the best/most expensive seats of course, and though I rarely really ask for special treatment, I've ended up looking at stuff from some pretty weird angles!). It makes for some nice shots though, apparently! Haha.

fun that is a TX icon on your screen Mobil

I too think the angle makes the photo more interesting
and the pep band makes it more real

No straightening Ralph - your perspective makes it uniquely you!
When I first started blogging I visited the blog of a photographer and her angled shots were what kept me going back to see what she'd done.
Too bad Hartford wasn't doing too well. ;)
Have a great week!

Nothing off center about your Ralph.. You are as centered as they come. Thank you for the comment about the shrinking snowman.. he did do battle as you say.. Kind of sad to see him melting away....Michelle

You've achieve a lot from your special angle.
I like your view of interpreting life.
I bet you sometimes wish you had a possibility to adjust your height, like those chairs movie cameramen have.
Maybe Hollywood has a solution for you?
I admire the way you always are up and around. I now some of how much extra work you have to put in, to get and do what you want.
Maybe that is why you are such an observant and empathic person.
Always glad hearing from you.

Interesting to see the band from your angle, Ralph.. When I stand I'm at just under 5 foot 2. [-)

I like the angle of this shot. It works for me!

That angle brings the photo to life. I agree that including the band - even unintentionally - is good.

Fun that you captured a bit of the band as well, it adds a lot to the story the photo tells.

Hi Ralph! I don't see anything wrong with the angle, actually it makes your photo more "dynamic." I'm no photographer, so sorry if that was the wrong term LOL!

Ralph, that's a really cool shot, I love the perspective. If I got something different at a standing height, I'd have wished I had crouched down.

I sometimes correct perspective with my tilt/shift lens, but the result isn't always satisfying. Sometimes it works better to compose what you "see," which seems to be what you've done here.

At any rate, I dig it.
