Shadow Shot Sunday - Shadowy Siblings

Shadow Shot Sunday allows us to seek out shadows, big or small, young or old.

Our kids, the erstwhile Allegra and Cameron, have lived in and out of the world of shadows - just like the kids with more experience (aka: the parents)

These are a kind of the younger vs. the older points of reference. The tree induced shadows are Cam's very first day of Kindergarten, Allegra second grade (1995). The day is bright, the shadows deep.

The way bigger pair is in 2007. The shadows are more subtle, the sun just as bright as when they were younger. There may be a metaphor at work here...

Shadows as an artistic medium are everywhere, so please see Hey Harriet to see lots more!

Shadows are definitely an art form, both predictable and aloof! These are beautiful memories of those precious moments in time!

Lovely family shadow shots -- always love to see kids at play! And what wonderful memories these shadows bring! I know I've certainly come to appreciate shadows as an art form, too. Great post as always, Ralph! Have a wonderful weekend!

I like both photos. Ralph, but the second one is wonderful because Cameron and Allegra appear to really like each other - he has his arm around her and she is leaning into him.

Fabulous shots - and definitely our young have to learn how to emerge from the shadow of their parents ;-)

I love how you reflect on the shadow contrasts between the young and older images! A double-sided metaphor methinks! Great family photos!

We never tire of the shots of our kids do we, watching them mature through all the years of their lives, especially now that we have digital cameras...oh I wish we had them 40 years ago when my daughter was young...and my 22 year old Grandson...I'm making up for lost shots though now!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

I love old family shots! (My mother has a selection of pictures of us on "first days" - they make an interesting sequence!)

Hi Ralph,
Such dear memories captured in these shots. Nice pictures, as usual! The "kids" you mentioned you saw scrolling down in my blog will always remain kids to me, though nowadays they are 18 years old!

Will post in my comments tomorrow what that thing is for. It is not an old toiletseat .....

Happy family pictures - the younger brother is now taller than the big sister. My elder son loves that he now towers over his sisters! x

Dear photos ~ looks like they were great friends then and great friends now!

Looking at the older photo of the two is like looking at a younger photo of you and Patty together. You can definitely tell that those are your kids and great looking ones at that!

Yes, a metaphor does seem to be in the work there! What a great perspective of your 'children'! I find it hard to believe as to how quickly they grow up!
