Shadow Shot Sunday - Beach Bums

Shadow Shot Sunday arrives at the unofficial ‘end of the summer’ in the US. We haven’t been on vacation due to college costs, numerous job changes and the like.

However, we look forward to visiting Cape Cod again next year. And we always had a fine time at the beach. Certainly the parents preferred to avoid the sun, sitting in the shadowy shade and enjoying the briny breezes off Nantucket Sound. So we reminisce.

I relax here after the pleasant and helpful lifeguards at Craigville Beach in Hyannis after here helped me get into the beach wheelchair and push me to my preferred place on the beach. In fact, the lifeguard walking away provided me with the umbrella I am sitting under - very attentive and very nice  personnel...

Yes, the shadows found me under the umbrella, and merely sitting near the saltwater is a great beach day for me.

Of course, family beaches are the most fun for children. Not being directly on the ocean, the water on this Sound a warm for New England 75°F (24°C), and kids (all ages...) enjoy the brine.

Cameron here is aged 13, and ready for fun - and he left an impressive shadow before heading in... See shadows from all seasons at the always fun Hey Harriet!

Beautiful beach! They're always fun for everyone! Love the sunshine and the fact that the beach is not too crowded! Perfect! More than I can say for ours here! Ours are beautiful, but always so crowded on the weekends when there is sun! Northwesterners can't get enough! Enjoy your weekend, Ralph, you and your family!

Relaxing on a beach compliments you well! What a great way to spend the summer.

Your photos make the area look inviting. I've never been to the East Coast.

I heard Cape Cod is being threatened by a hurricane this weekend. Hopefully, it passed without much damage.

Have a good Labor Day Weekend.

Cape Cod - the very name is so iconic! The light in these photos is so pretty - it looks like you had a super time on that good looking beach. I don't go to the beach here in Sydney because the sun is very strong and will burn up someone like me in minutes flat! The sun here looks fairly reasonable though - perfect for relaxing in!

Have a lovely week ahead Ralph!

Lovely shadows around these beautiful beach scenes! And a beach that's not too crowded is a bonus!

Ahhh...a day at the beach is day well spent no matter how you get there or how long you stay...the fresh salty air, the warm breezes, the sounds of happy children, I long to visit a beach somewhere in time, gettin' itchy travelin' shoes for Florida this winter...but for now, we enjoy the first signs of Autumn...glad you got to enjoy the beach while you can!

There's no better place to find shadows than on a sunny beach - especially one that brings back such pleasant memories.

I've got to get out to Cape Cod again one of these days - especially the National Seashore which is just SO beautiful. I kind of like beaches in winter, though, when no one else is there and it's just the surf and the sky and the seagulls. It's kind of desolate but I like it that way!

We were just in Boston yesterday! No beach for us though. You looked very content and happy in your shadowy beach roost...attentive life guards were a plus!! Good you captured your son's shadow at 13...they grow up so fast that's for sure. Have a good holiday with your family.

You look so relaxed and happy there Ralph! It's wonderful how time spent at the beach will do that. I feel any problems I may have simply wash away the minute I look at the ocean. Well, not quite, but you know what I mean. There's just something magical about being at the beach. Enjoy your long weekend!

Hello Ralph : )
I am a beach gal myself .. I spent precious years of my childhood always asking to go to the beach .. and we were on the very edge of Cape Breton Nova Scotia .. historic site of Fortress Louisbourg .. the beach Kennington Cove ..almost untouched by people .. wild and beautiful .. I loved it terribly. Sharp Shadow by beach lover too ? LOL

We rarely get such hot days on the beach here in Scotland - and even if the weather is warm, the sea will still be freezing!!
