Shadow Shot Sunday - Pavillion

For those south of the equator such as Oz and NZ, the warmth of spring and later summer begins now. Such weather has to be nice, although we in the northern USA and Canada are facing seasonal cold.

We are forced to change from lighter to heavier clothing to protect against winter’s wrath. Shadow Shot Sunday, by the famous Queensland artist Tracy, at least allows us up here a remembrance of when it was warm...

However, there was a time when we sought cooler places to avoid the excessive warmth of the sun. To avoid complaining about the heat, we know how much sun we could stand and where to escape to to cool off.

While safely inside the picnic pavilion at Kalmus Beach in Hyannis on Cape Cod, Patti captured me (in the ‘chair and in the red shirt) outside near the beach. When us old-timers had enough, we could enjoy sitting under cover while we caught a cooling breeze from Nantucket Sound. Which is okay in the summer, but I am drawn to the heat and indoors more and more these days.

Shadows abound at the fun Hey Harriet!

Memories of things warm and sunny help get us through winter. Although I shouldn't complain, it is a nice sunny day here, and yesterday the outside temperature was room temperature! My favorite kind.

Thanks for the summer shot, Ralph.

It's nice to have a shady place to retreat to when the summer sun gets too hot. In southern California we had one last spurt of summer beach weather on our trip to San Diego.

Love this shot. There you are in your bright red shirt! Looks like Patti knew a "cool" way to enjoy a sunny afternoon. FUnny, as I get older I prefer the cold more...the opposite of most of my contemporaries. It's about 40 outside right now(in Sandpoint,ID) and I don't even have a coat on!! Happy SSS Ralph.

Hello Bro!

Hmmm... you bring me to a drooling mood with you shot, eh?

It's starts to get colder for every day. That's sucks!

Hope it won't be too cold and much snow as last year.

Have a great week-end and TC and GB to all.

Cheers!

Hey, Ralph! Snow fell on my neighbourhood last night. Yep, winter is coming! Maybe we can all hop on a plane for Australia!

As I look at the forecast for the next few days, temperatures barely above freezing during the day, I imagine being somewhere just like the place in the photograph. Have a nice weekend.

Ahhh, the melancholy days of summer, oh how I long for them already! I'm not a winter person, to hard for me to make a living when the shops are closed for days due to storms and roads are terrible due to ice and snow...Florida is a song that is singing to me these days...and I moved back WHY...guess I missed the growing seasons and Iowa cantelope!

Stay warm, it's a comin'!

What a beautiful summery shadow shot Ralph, and a gorgeous spot to sit and enjoy the sun.
With all those yachts you could be here in Auckland.

I could go for this right about now. I just drown myself in SPF 40,000 and I'm good to go!

Your blog name has a very different meaning to me. I ride BMW motorcycles and 'aiheads' are late '60's to mid '90's air cooled, horizontally opposed twin cylinder engines.

Patty's capture is wonderful! In the shade is where I also like to shoot photos from when I have a choice. But on cold days, I'm like a reptile and need warmth to be able to move.

Now that sure is a pretty scene! I'm drifting off imagining I'm sitting there eating fish & chips & dipping my feet in the ocean!

Hoping your winter is not too harsh this year and it passes by quickly. I guess snowy shadows are not too far off now... Keep warm Ralph!

A shady retreat from the sun. What could be more inviting?

We had snow here yesterday, and summer already seems like a distant memory.

Nice shot. Sure looks inviting and an interesting place to laze in the chair and watch the people go by (I am a agreat people watcher). With the blessing of retreating to shade with a breeze when you have had enough.
Enjoy your day Ralph and your sunshine.

Looks like a great place to be. I haven't been to the Cape in forever.

A red chair to bask in the sun in? I'll take it! Great Ruby!

Wow Ralph! That looks wonderful. I'm missing summer already. We'll have to look back on that photo when the snows start to fly and remember warmer days.
