Shadow Shot Sunday - Drifting Daughter

Shadow Shot Sunday and snow seem to coexist nicely in the four-season climate we live in - not of course in the warm realm of Oz in their Summer (and I hope the flooding recedes soon). Winter as it is needed to be chronicled from the outside, and since with the wheelchair I cannot blaze any trails of a depth greater than 1 cm, someone has to.

That someone is daughter Allegra. She braved the frozen precipitation, and walked about the drifts of the yard, capturing post storm shadows. The shadow artiste herself was also captured...

The snowy land is made for well placed shadows. Yet, I think that I prefer Summer, as the days are warmer and shadows are designed more for escape from the heat...see more shadowy art at the fun meme from Hey Harriet!

Good heavens, you do have a lot of snow! Nice bright shadows though. Just rain here...

We don't even have any snow, but I'm still longing for summer and at least a little sunshine! We surely haven't had much lately! Allegra makes such a lovely shadow summer or winter! Have a great weekend, Ralph, stay warm!

You are fortunate that the sun comes up and throws light and shadows on the snow. For me, I had to reach into the arhive to find some light for the "Around California" blog. If past weather can guide me, it will be another three or four weeks before the low clouds and fog leave.

Wow, the snow looks perfect. And the shadows even more powerful on such a clean background!

I like winter shadows, there's something special about the blue shadows on snow.... I particularly like the photo on the left here because of the contrast between the shadows on the snow and those in the tree

I like the contrast of her shadow and the crispness of the branch reflections.

Great shadow shot, Ralph! We didn't get enough sun around here today for any shadows but we did get quite a bit of snow.

I agree with Woody - the different shadows cast by the branches and Allegra look wonderful together.
We are having new snow here today, with much wind and no sun atallatall.

I am with you on summer, I like photos created from snow but summer is the best time in capturing different images.

So true about those shadows and the heat - I am a professional shadow spotter at the moment as the sun is very intense at the moment! Love these captures - the contrast between your daughter's shadow and the building's and the snow is so clean and lovely!

Good to see you have Allegra as a ShadowShooter in training! She did a nice job of it.

Thank you for your kind words on such a lousy day in AZ.

What a brave soul your lovely Allegra is! We all appreciate her efforts! Love the first one! Try to keep warm! It's difficult for me to imagine how anybody keeps warm in those conditions. You probably have great heating in your home. I would hope you have! Enjoy the rest of your weekend Ralph :)

Agreed-much prefer summer! But, the snow does provide the most beautiful background for shadows, does it not? Thank you, Allegra for showing us the calm after the storm

The shadow cast between the two houses reminds me of pictures I have seen from my youth of my grandparents' home in norther wisconsin.

Yup, more snow on the way for Iowa, 2-4 inches they're predicting...I was kinda getting used to the dead grass look in the yard, but brrrrr has it been cold!

Looks like you have a LOT of snow for the shadows.
Out here in West Texas, we have yet to get our first REAL snow this winter. We had one very light dusting a few weeks back..but nothing to write home about.
Stay warm!!
