Shadow Shot Sunday - Nearly Spring Tides and Such

Shadow Shot Sunday, by artist Tracy in still warm Brisbane, arrives as the northerly Spring season is about to land. Of course up here, we have complained about the cold and snow in blog, picture and prose. Patti and I were out and about to capture a warmer day shadow or two.

Today, the temperatures near Long Island Sound was nearly 70°F (21°C), and short sleeves and sandals seemed to predominate. Ah, the lure of warmth after the winter season seem to prompt people to dress irrationally - on a day like this in a four-season climate, we are ready!

However, the leaves on the trees trees are yet to occur. At the nearest beach (25 minute drive), it looks exceptional. But the bare trees let us know that the season we await is very near...

At the beach in nearby West Haven, the nearly Spring views are stark, despite the nice blue sky.

On top, the ebb tide looks the same in all seasons as far as the briny water goes, if not the lack of foliage.

Both views though offer the sun induced shadows. If not that warm, the shadows show the solar influence - it at least looks warm. The earlier the warm, the loopier we become, though Saturday's high temperature will only be 50°F (10° C). Time to put the sandals away...

All seasons provide shadowy artistry, so be sure to see them all at Hey Harriet!

Nice shadows...and nice that you got a warm day for a change (we could use one of those; it hasn't reached 70 in weeks, and this is California).

Wonderful shadows as always, Ralph, but you're right, it does still look bare and wintry! Some things you just can't "pretty up"!! It looks as though we may have a little sun today and we do have some color -- maybe not as much as I would like, but surely better than nothing!! Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

Such beautiful scenes! The trees amy be stark and the grass not so green, but the sun and shadows soften the view with subtle beauty!

I'm always so anxious to get rid of the drab, but still a bit cold to rake of the leaves, my paint brushes frozen in ice proved that this AM...but soon...do you think we'll complain about the heat...ha!

It has been a long, long time since I've been out in temperatures as high as 70°! Even 50° sounds rather warm to me. :) Spring is coming, Ralph! :)

Nice pictures, with the clouds in the background and the shadows on the ground. You can tell that the season is about to change. The trees may still be bare, but the grass is begining to have a bit of green in it. Spring is here and soon everything will bloom and come to life again, the sun will shine more and cast those wonderful shadows.
Thanks for sharing your photos!!

Aren't you relieved to see the ground again without a speck of snow?

SHADOW SINGER

Of shadows an old man did sing;
He chanted in Guelph and Beijing;
The shade was his friend,
He loved it no end—
It made him feel rich as a king!
