Shadow Shot Sunday - Casual Canine

Shadow Shot Sunday, is an always fun meme hosted by Brisbane artiste Tracy. Today it is a photo posted before, and remains a favorite of mine.

The place is in northern Minnesota at bucolic (in the summer, that is :) Big Stony Lake, about 210 miles (340 km) from  Minneapolis. The Land of 10,000 Lakes (actually 11,842) has the clearest water I’ve seen (I hear Wisconsin lakes are as well), the perfect place for a waterborne dog to play. The year is 1983, the medium ASA 400 film.

The dog her is Brandy the golden retriever, a member of a relative’s family, and one of the nicest ever. Like all retrievers, this friendly canine loves water, as she appears to be relaxing after chasing the tennis ball into the water. The one throwing the object, however, had better be ready - throw that ball (or branch) into the water fifty times, and the dog would retrieve it and drop it at your feet for the fifty-first to a great dog really is play!

See shadows aplenty at Hey Harriet!

What a lovely Golden. Our Lindy doesn't like retrieving, and we don't yet know if she likes water, but my husband promised to take us to a lake this year to find out!
Wonderful post today, Ralph!

Oh, yes! They do love to play endlessly! Mojo is Chesapeake Bay Retriever and is exactly the same way -- never stop, loves the water! Great shadow shot for the day, Ralph! Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

O what a gorgeous soggy profile of Brandy! Playing in water for a dog is a chance to run free!

Love it Ralph! Although, I am partial, for we have a golden. And...I have to say she likes shallow water, not to fond of ponds and lakes - but a good mud puddle or creek....especially if it is filthy and stinky...that is her style :)
wishing you a super weekend!

What would we do without dogs? I don't even want to try to conjure an answer to that question. Unthinkable!

Even in shadow, where there is no light,
One may take comfort and one may delight
That darkness has lost its power to thrall
Those who are living on this earthly ball.

Brandy is beautiful! Willow is leery of big waves and especially fond of marshes -- she lounges in them as if she were in a bathtub! She will never bring the ball back!

Happy Easter to you and Patti and the kids!

This is my second try. HOpe it works. Love that you have all these scanned pics from the past! Do you have a magical way of scanning or is it one at a time, like I do?? Happy SSS and Easter too!

Oh Brandy is a beauty. I would love to have a retriever, they really are great dogs especially around children.

Have a happy Easter to you and your family Ralph.

What a gorgeous dog! We used to have a spaniel which loved water - she would try to swim in a puddle!!

It's obvious why this shot is a favorite. she's a lovely dog and you caught her at a moment of intense concentration. she must have been waiting for someone to throw that ball. great shot Ralph. I hope you have a beautiful day.
