Shadow Shot Sunday - Skyview

Shadow Shot Sunday arrives courtesy of Tracy, down under in Brisbane.

We see shadows on the ground, underneath the sky most of the time. However, in the sky? Of course...

A couple of years ago, Allegra travelled to Grand Rapids MI for a church conference. Naturally, given my blog name, I commissioned a photo or two from upstairs. Allegra thoughtfully complied.

This is on a Continental Express EMB-145 jet somewhere between Cleveland (KCLE) and Hartford (KBDL). Shadows appear on and inside the fluffy cloud, the subtle lighting changes a treat for the viewer.

There is also evidence of the photo hunter in the window also...The graphic shows the flight tracker at the time, going the other way. Note that the computer generated plane has a shadow, too...

Ah, shadows abound all over and we (and obliging kids) capture them, so see many more at Hey Harriet!

Great shadow shot from Allegra. Clouds have shadows with in and can make great shadows on the ground as well.

Ah, so peaceful! It always feels like a different world up there.

Happily, they do abound everywhere-a sad day if they don't since it would mean no light.

If no one picks up hosting SSS, I will still post my shadows as I have done for so many years. I do have an 'email subscribe' on my blog, so if you want automatic notification of my SSS posts, sign up for that. I don't post everyday, usually twice a week. If you visit me, I will surely visit you (but we have to leave comments so that we know we were by).

Love your comment about commissioning a photo or two from upstairs! Very creative! And love the bank of fluffy white cloud! Dramatic!

Clouds tipped with shadows--lovely!

IF I WERE A SHADOW

If I were a shadow,
I would seek the light;
There I would glow sleekly,
Black and shiny bright!

Love those clouds defined by shadows. Nicely presented.

There's something about clouds that I just love. I got my single engine pilot's license when I was younger (never fly anymore, at least as pilot) and I found clouds to be fascinating from that perspective.

How clever of you to note the little tracker plane's shadows!! I don't think I would ever have noticed that. :)

Beautiful Ralph. It seems to be a kernel of popcorn through my eyes. And the contrast, brilliant blue sky above the cloud...well, fantastic.

it never ceases to amaze me how sharp and solid clouds can look - especially from this angle. A beautiful shot Ralph

You have such a good eye for noticing the little shadow of the computer generated plane! I see it clearly now that you've pointed it out but I would never have noticed otherwise!

Good news is that we have a little team to take over the hosting of SSS. I'm so happy about this! The details will be on my post next Sunday and thanks so much Ralph for your wonderful contributions each week. You've been a delight and I look forward to keeping in touch via the blogosphere. I plan on continuing with SSS as a participant in the future which will be fun :)

These kind of clouds are like cotton or whipped cream. Yes, I notice the shadows too! :)
You're right about 'sweet and sour must coexist'. It's only a couple of weeks and then this darkness is over, I'm so happy! :)

Thanks for visiting my SSS - unfortunately something has gone amiss and I have not been able to show your comment on my site (total lack of technical know how...sigh..) I am working on it but I just wanted to let you know I appreciated receiving your comment and it is only because I can't get it on to the right page that it isn't showing.......

WOW!!! Do you have one great eye for the perfect shot. The clouds are beautiful and the shadows on them amazing. I never in my lifetime would have thought about seeing shadows on clouds while flying in an airplane. I am toooo afraid to even look out the window. genie

And we were thinking that those clouds were over Helena!! It was lovely that Allegra thought of her dad to take a picture for her dad :) Have a great week Ralph!
