Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back! Shadows allow for artistry, their imaginative shapes often
like their exotic subjects. Yet, in our lives, shadows of all types are part of the
everyday scene. Although the ordinary can be attractive as well. The subject here is
in our neighboring small city of Derby CT (13,000) on the downtown commercial
Elizabeth Street, and on a nice late winter day.
Earlier in the day, few people are out and parking is available and a worker in the lift 'bucket' truck is supervising roof repairs; the Sterling Opera House on the left majestic as ever. And, shadows are all over, especially on and under the awning–although the shade is less important now but welcome relief on a hot summer day. Never let a shadow escape our digital grasp in any season…

catch those shadows! Nicely done
yay for Elizabeth Street and the Sterling Opera House.
Shadows can be deceptive - we don't always know if they're welcome relief from the heat or something to avoid in the cold!
The opera house looks like a beautiful building!
Nice street shots.
Regards and best wishes
Commercial shadows. You mean they're for sale? :)
Great shadow shots and such beautiful blue skies -- beautiful in any season! Hope your weekend is going well, Ralph! Enjoy!

not many shadows elude us chasers huh!! great shots!!
That crisp blue sky says it was a beautiful day for shadows. We've already had a few days of 80 degrees where the shade of that awning but have been most welcome.
Lovely shots Ralph!
Looks like you have spring over there too (with shadows) :)
Happy weekend!
You captured the best shot of the lift. Scary thoughts §;-)
Hope you have a great day.
Happy SSS,
Blessings,

I Loved the depth of this. You made me WORK for the detail and I loved it! The Flag down the way so inspired me with the All American Working Man!
Great job Ralph!
John
I love the little wisp of cloud in the beautiful blue sky.
I so agree with your last words. Shadows so capture us!
Great shadows for the week!
Isn't it funny how the colors and shadows of the linky -parties play such a big role in our daily lives? I am always on the look for shadows, reds, blues, pinks and all else in between. Haha..guess I am a true blogger.
I love these shadow photos and, my, what an awesome blue sky.
LOv those shadows. Great shots
Like how the street seems to be evenly divided between sunlight and shadow! Interesting streetscape with progress in mind?
I think your little town is charming and I have a feeling few shadows escape your camera's watchful lens.
The blue stands out for me and then that red hat.
Looks like a nice place. Colorful buildings, flag flying and a beautiful blue sky too. Not to mention a shadow seeker to share its beauty with the world!
Looks like you had absolutely gorgeous weather for that shot! I wonder if the guy in the lift bucket knew that he was going to be on the internet!! LOL!
Blue sky, love love it! Weather last week as great, it is going to be cooler the next weeks to come.
Shadows shadows everywhere you look! This Sterling Opera House looks quite interesting, and we bet there are some fun goings-on happening through the year! Hope you enjoy the week coming up Ralph!
What beauties, Ralph, from color and contrasts to shadows and light, each photo is a testament to life...man and architecture.
Dear Ralph
I had to laugh at MMT's comment of are the shadows for sale ? Now wouldn't that be too funny ?
You caught some one up in the air doing his thing and seems like he is enjoying it ? Good for the repairs .. just the right weather now a days .. not too cold and not too hot .. perfect !

I have lived in a small town until 1964 and they tend to have some most interesting sights. Yours are very nice.
