Shadow Shot Sunday 2 brings us to Ansonia's nearby Prendergast School to a playground dedication in the honor of Catherine Hubbard, one of the Sandy Hook (CT) School killed last December. This playground, one of many planned in the NJ-NY-CT tri-state region, was built by The Sandy Ground Project as Patti has written and blogged about recently.In addition to the playground, a memorial garden was assembled for those whose lives were taken. Some parents from Newtown were there, and their grief was palpable. Yet, smiles emerged as the program, dedication, ribbon cut as the assembled students climbed the ramp and slid down the slide on their way back to their classrooms.
Catherine's mother Jennifer spoke and her eloquent talk offered hope to all as seen in some of her excerpts:"What Catherine expects all of us is to be kind...she went to a school where the principal said that 'all you have to do is be kind'...as you play on your new playground, remember if there is something in your heart you want to say to someone - say it, because you don't know what tomorrow will bring" So true...we feel hopeful as through the kindness of so many, the dreams and hopes of these children continue to live on
