Toby's fun meme, Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors is back amidst tough times in Israel - unguided rockets are terrorizing. We hope, and (yes) pray for inhabitants who never seek wartime conditions but are forced to live through them...
We are inside the normally austere Puritan style and white Seymour (CT) Congregational Church. The view inside is less severe with Patti's capture of the quilts made by church members draping the railings along the balcony railings. Red, white and blue knitted masterpieces adorn the sanctuary - an fine antidote to Puritan sensibilities :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Summer Soul
The pics on the top have an orange-yellow hue on the sound check, performance and setup. The band is The Bernadettes, a New Haven based Soul/R&B/Oldies band that offers a fabulous performance an eclectic mix of soul and shadows. Patti captured the photos and the concrete dance floor was soon filled. A great way to end the day...I had a bit of space left on an old Flip camera and was able to capture the band singing Mr. Big Stuff, Jean Knight's 1971 hit. I was in tenth grade all those decades ago - I'll let the reader guess my age with this info - I'd probably never admit it otherwise :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Egress
![]() |
| 1989 Dodge B250, 21 April 1996 |
| 1998 Ford E150, 10 March 2010 |
| 2008 Grand Caravan, current steed |
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 prompts us to look for shadows, often in unique views. Since I use a power wheelchair for ambulation and driving*, I need egress into said vehicle to traverse the land. Since 20 April 1996, there have been three trusty steeds to allow me to do so. How to enter each vehicle is by lifts and ramps, and with the doors opened on a sunny day, shadows add a pleasant effect to each otherwise utilitarian van conveyances, a 1989 Dodge B250, 1998 Ford E150 and the current 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, all outfitted for wheelchair entry. Shadows add style to functionality...
*- The light blue 1989 Dodge gives a clue to how I enter all of the vans: the driver's seat turns 90° and I line the chair alongside the driver's seat, turn it back 90° to face the steering wheel and drive (sort of) 'normally'...whatever that means :)

Whimsical Windows - A Salute to the showman

We visited the town of Bethel Connecticut and we knew a famous person who was born there, none other than the famous showman P.T. Barnum. We actually made the trek to the hilly Fairfield County burg of Bethel to meet a friend for lunch and as we were passing through, saw the statue of the impresario at the town's library. Windows of this 1800s building are part of this post but of greater importance is our daughter Allegra and her relationship to the bronze statue of P.T....Patti capturing her pose and selfie. So the windows are peripheral to the charming whimsy...
