Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back this week, and often I return to archives for shadowy memories in black-and-white. In this photo posted before, this is a view of suburban East Hartford in my youth in 1964. I straddle my Columbia bicycle on the drive.
The players are jumping rope and other activities we rarely see neighborhood children partake in anymore. The vehicles beyond the rope are a French SIMCA Aronde, the family VW Microbus, a tricycle and the neighbor's Rambler. Shadows abound this neighborhood playground on this sunny winter day. Thanks to SSS2 for prompting these memories...

Lots of great, old fashioned shadows! I love the pose you took...very nonchalant. Also the kids jumping rope. Cool! Happy SSS.
I love those old-fashioned shadows, too, Ralph!! They always bring back such fun, happy memories of a simpler time! I hope you have a good weekend and that it's not too cold! Chilly and wet here! Ah, but that's Seattle for you!!

wonderful memories ralph. you definitely don't see kids jumping rope anymore...use to love that activity in elementary during recess...waiting for the right time to jump into the middle of the rope.
great memories!!!!!!!!
I just love your vintage shots, Ralph - especially since I'm of the same vintage as you. ;)
Jumping rope was one of my favorite activities as a kid. When I was a GS leader, I always provided jump ropes to occupy the girls while they waited on their rides home.
Oh yeah, how cool is that bike! You must've been very proud guy. Great memories...
Nostalgia proves shadows were around even then! ;-). Great Old pics!
Thank You!
John
Always enjoy the nostalgia here-great vintage shots!
A lovely glimpse in to your childhood!
Beautiful old photo.
Regards and best wishes
What a great shot, the shadows are brilliant, and I love that everyone is outside playing, nothing like the good old days when we would play outside until dark not having to worry about anything. Thanks so much for sharing a 'slice of your life' Ralph
A great shot of you enjoying the wintry outdoors! Amazing shadows for a winter's day! And love the tree line in the background!
Love the old photo. It brings back memories for me, too, though mine were in south Florida. My childhood was so uncomplicated compared to the lives of children these days. genie
I'm sure it gives you much pleasure to review your past in photos...
Such a joy in your photo! It's true even in cold winter days, kids will always want to play!
Thank you for your contribution to Shadow Shot Sunday 2.
Miniature Rose's Shadow, have a blessed Sunday!
Ouch, this word verfication is killing me lol.
you look quite debonair there :)
I thought they were tugging at the rope, the one in a snowsuit looks especially serious
Ah, Ralph, you bring nostalgia to my mind and eyes. I love this classic photo of times gone by. Beautiful.
Nice Shadow Shot. Awww... the days of being carefree riding a bike. I know much of my youth was spent doing just that.
Great photo! Old but gold!
Dear Ralph
I truly love seeing these older pictures .. a flash back of my own childhood also happens as I look at yours : )
How true is that ? physical activity is so staged now .. not just for fun and off the cuff like we used to do ?
Playing outside was such fun for us as kids .. I am sorry kids now a days have no idea how fun it actually was !
Joy
Great memories filled with shadows.
