Shadow Shot Sunday - Front Range

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 reminds us that shadows of any era are fun captures, digital new or scanned old

I revert to the past, which is 1966 (per the car at the airport), the state Colorado on the Front Range leading to the Rocky Mountains. The subjects are my grandparents. As we know, Ralph wanted photographic proof he was there, and he got it. The first sepia views were taken at the wonderful Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs, a beautiful place. Obviously he arrived, and she is seen overlooking the foothills of he Rockies - note how she dressed up - this we don't see much today...

The black-and-white shots are probably at the old Stapleton airport in Denver. Not exciting, but they were there. And both were dressed up for the flight home (naturally, people dressed up to fly back then, too...). Shadows know no era, they appear when and wherever - thankfully today’s scanners allow for digital shadowy captures - eee more of the fun at SSS2!

I just love these shots! Between the old cars, the poses, and your grandmother's dressiness, these are priceless. We can't see, but I'll wager she has on heels (albeit low ones), too!

Ralph these are wonderful photos!
The shadow of your Grandfather in another era is quite crisp.
I noticed immediately how dressed up they were. Your Grandmother even in a hat with her purse hung graciously on her arm. I have a couple pictures of my Mom from this same decade. These are truly a reflection on the past and how things used to be.
I'm guessing you love all those old cars in the last two shots. :)
Wonderful photos - thanks for sharing these Ralph!

You are so lucky to have these family photos. (I have one of either of my grandfathers.) A handsome couple, your grandparents. Happy SSS.

I especially enjoy your older shots on SSS.
Altho it dates me horribly, I can remember when we dressed up to fly. Everyone did...never shorts, flip flops and t's.
You had mighty fine looking grands. :)

I am loving the vintage shots, bro? What a nostalgia moment. It's just like yesterday, although it was ages ago.

Their time was more charming compare to ours §;-)

Hope you have had a great w/end with lovely P.

You both take care and hope to see you around.

Hugs from chilly Stockholm,
/Chie

I grew up just north and west of Stapleton. Of course it is no longer used with DIA now, but what memories. Oh...and Bud, my husband was born in the Springs, so GofG is so very familiar to us both!!!

Dear Ralph
I love both sets of these shots .. they do attest to a totally different generation indeed !
I love you comment about how people used to get dressed up to fly .. how true is that ? .. now they practically come in the pajamas and swim suites ? LOL
This was a more graceful , intact age in my opinion : )
Joy
Thank you for your kind comments on my garden .. I hope it turns out the way it looks in my garden imagination ? LOL

I so love the vintage shots you show us! And, who today would think of going to Garden of the Gods all decked out like that in a dress? Looking great, though!
