Shadow Shot Sunday - Playground

It has been a nice summer, warm but not quite as humid as usual. Thus, being outside on a sunny day at a playground makes for a fine post for Shadow Shot Sunday 2. The day was beautiful at a park in nearby Milford - fair weather shadows rule this 80ºF / 27ºC day of children playing and parents playing along too...

Wordless Wednesday - Wheelchair Tennis

Although a (power) wheelchair user, even I never have seen tennis being played in a wheelchair. These lightweight sport 'chairs' have sharply angled wheels for quicker movements. This was an event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) in Milford CT. These players held many a serve and volley...see WW!

Whimsical Windows - Bridge & Monument

Toby hosts the fun Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors, and we look at interesting architectural detail on our travels. Today it is the castle like monument sitting upon the Memorial Bridge spanning the Wepawaug River in downtown Milford CT. It was built in 1889 at the site of the town's first mill upon the river. As it was built for the 250th anniversary the year it opened, we can assume the mill was far older. The other shot was taken from inside a restaurant (with reflections) that is perched just downstream of the monument. As modern as Milford looks in this era, the fact that it was incorporated in 1639 is amazing...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Ornamental

Holiday cheer hanging from the ceiling at the SBC Restaurant in Milford
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, as am I.

Missed this fun meme last week as I attended a 'Holiday" Party (I prefer the non-PC Christmas Party :) last Saturday at a restaurant.

As always, shadowy shots are not necessarily sought, yet they find me every tome. Subtle shadows emanate from these large ornaments as the hang from the sloped ceiling, the colors of the holiday mix with the artistic lighting and pixelated colors.

The look of the season indeed!

Whimsical Windows - Old diner requests relevance

Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors is a fun meme where we look for interesting portals. Here is an old diner in Milford CT that was nearby a holiday event we attended yesterday. Milford has been gentrified with may nice, pricy restaurants - except for this old diner. Living a few towns away, I haven't paid much attention to what restoration efforts are in store for what I guess to be built in the late 1940s, so the B&W and Sepia were to add age the building. Not so much ambience but omelets, burgers and the always fresh and hot coffee. The drawback at this location is that the one-way on New Haven Ave goes eastbound so drivers do not see the classic facade except in their rearview mirrors, so is easily missed. Hope for funding...

Whimsical Windows - Train Platform

Toby hosts the fun architectural meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors. Earlier this afternoon, I drove our son to the train platform in Milford Connecticut. In the interest of speed, I kindly asked the lovely Patti if she could capture the 'station' and she kindly agreed. Taken from the north platform (southbound train toward NYC), the opposite platform was captured. There is no station as such these days with e-tickets the norm...happily the early 1900s (?) building is still being used, and seems just right in B&W. All aboard!
