SOOC - Tree Lighting

2013 Christmas Tree, downtown Ansonia, CT
2014 Christmas Tree, downtown Ansonia, CT

Due to a variety of computer issues and holidays, I have missed SOOC - Straight out of the Camera - but am back! Since it is still the Christmas holiday (I count until the Twelfth Night), the Christmas tree on our green downtown is still lit at night, and a lovely sight downtown. This year and last, a good looking tree sits under the stars - last year it seemed a bit more winter-y with the snow under its boughs, but this evergreen looks so seasonally nice any year!

Would a smallish Maine Coon do? Our late feline Sir Humphrey of Upland was indeed a gift from heaven! See WW and WW

Shadow Shot Sunday - Presents and presence

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 and holidays go together well. And for the upcoming Christmas, I am reprising these re-edited views of 1994 on Christmas Day, with a shadow or two, of our (then little) children. With presents opened and unopened, the magic of the day for both is apparent :)

Wordless Wednesday - Merry...

Christmas is so often for the children - we are happy at their joy at receiving,  and even happier by our giving. This is from Christmas morning 1993, kids then aged 3 and 5. Joyful we all were, and in this season - still are...see WW and WW

Ruby Tuesday Too - The last holiday reds...

Ruby Tuesday Too is back, and whatever day one celebrates Christmas, from 25 December to 6 January, the holiday decorations need to be put away. So I offer one last SOOC ruby, a unique wine rack in an area restaurant. It rises from the tile like a plant in bloom. And with a requisite ruby or two in the form of poinsettia flowers and the ruby foil on a red wine bottle. The holiday decorating commences again next December...

Shadow Shot Sunday - First Christmases...

24 December 1989, E.Windsor, CT
25 December 1990, Derby CT
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 arrives this week near Christmas Day. Naturally in life, parents like to chronicle their children in the holiday for the first time. And given my look back at the past, shadows small and large on Christmases past seem are the theme. Our daughter was eleven months old on her first, however our son was only a month old. Yet the lights and such provided a wonder to both. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all participants in this meme's shadowy world!

Wordless Wednesday - Not mere ornaments...

Parents, it seems, dote over their babies on many ways. Like Christmas ornaments that celebrate the little ones intro to the spirit of the holiday...see Wordless Wednesday

Shadow Shot Sunday - Ornamental

Holiday cheer hanging from the ceiling at the SBC Restaurant in Milford
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, as am I.

Missed this fun meme last week as I attended a 'Holiday" Party (I prefer the non-PC Christmas Party :) last Saturday at a restaurant.

As always, shadowy shots are not necessarily sought, yet they find me every tome. Subtle shadows emanate from these large ornaments as the hang from the sloped ceiling, the colors of the holiday mix with the artistic lighting and pixelated colors.

The look of the season indeed!

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Christmas wrap-up

Holiday rubies and more, 24 December 2012, East Hartford, CT

Ruby Tuesday 2 returns as the Christmas holiday season has now passed. Since ruby predominates during that season, one more peek at December decorations might be in order :)

The day is Christmas Eve, 24 December at the family get together at my sister's house in East Hartford. Inside the house, gifts, food, children and this table of holiday items: the ornament tree, the angel and the lamp from the movie A Christmas Story. A fun trio of style. See more ruby from any/all seasons at the fun RT2!

Ruby Tuesday - Christmas past in ruby

25 Dec 1993 - Christmas surprises
25 Dec 2002 - Broken but usable...
For RT2, Christmas rubies remembered...are Little kids in sleepers and robes marvel at a Radio Flyer, Snow White, seven dwarfs, plastic bowling sets and tool kits. The joy of receiving is matched by the joy of parental/Santa giving...

On the right, what was to be a tree shaped lawn light decoration - however when the cheap mount broke and it would not stand in the yard, it could be stood upside down on the ramp to equal ruby effect in the swirls of snow. Christmas is made of memories...merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

SOOC - Tinsel (and then some)

SOOC - Straight out of the Camera - takes me back to the days of yore and that steelmaking city of Steubenville. Grandpa liked big Christmas trees full of tinsel - this example that sits in the middle of the living room certainly describes the big tinsel-y tree quite well...Given the picture of Aunt Terry on the modern for the day television, I'll guess this was taken around 1957 or so. I believe this view is straight out from his German Exa SLR camera - a proud tree decorator he! A merry and happy Christmas to all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Merry 1993

3-year-old Cam, 24 Dec 1993
Nearly 5-year-old Allegra, 24 Dec 1993
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 this week falls within the Christmas holiday - and this is a holiday that really inspires parents giving - and children receiving. As ours have grown nicely these days, I'll return to the old days of 1993 and the extended family Christmas Eve at my sister's home in East Hartford. The kids were ready I'd say...

Ruby Tuesday - Merry 1975

Clan Villers of Wickham Drive, 24 December 1975

Ruby Tuesday 2 returns us to Christmas Eve 1975 at the family homestead in East Hartford, CT. It includes all seven of us kids and a niece and nephew and now-ex. Plenty of ruby worn in this nice memory of holidays past...

Ruby Tuesday 2-Tilted Tree

Ruby Tuesday continues! Thanks for making this second edition happen MMT!

We are fixated in the USA about Christmas being only on 25 December.

Yet in most other parts of the globe, the day can be as late as 6 January. So I am presenting a Christmas tree from a few years ago.

Balancing even a small point-and-shoot camera while in a wheelchair sometimes distorts the view slightly-the tilted (not real) conifer is the result here...

No matter the angle. with a few rubies, the pic still qualifies!
