Wordless Wednesday - Historical Naugatuck Valley

This is a train layout at the Derby Historical Society (DHS) that was built to evoke the past with a layout that covers the Shelton, Derby and Ansonia CT communities in the early 1920s. Of course, I also feature our darling daughter and DHS docent Allegra (obvious bias :). Is the detailing accurate? I'm not old enough (yet) to say! See WW

Shadow Shot Sunday - Railings and rails

The Ansonia Greenway on an early April Day. Captured by the always lovely Patti
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 returns in late Spring as I present a view from earlier in the season. We are in Ansonia on the greenway perched upon the flood control wall next to the Naugatuck River, In the background is the Metro North commuter railroad just leaving the trestle on the way South. With shadows that look as wavy as the chop on the river. Sun, shadow and Spring - a trifecta for this Saturday's Belmont Stakes and SSS2!

Shadow Shot Sunday - River walk shadows

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and nice shadows exist all over, including our small city of Ansonia. More specifically, on the river walk that sits upon the flood control wall alongside the Naugatuck River. Taken in early April, we see the shadowy fence that faces the water and the pavilion that sits at the Ansonia entrance to the walk, both with early Spring shadows.
To make it more interesting, how about a more prosaic subject - the Ansonia WPCA water pollution control station. Not that this is a perfect subject per se, but there are shadows...Shadows add to the desirability of just about anything at SSS2

Tina's Pic Story - From above

Tina hosts the fun Pic Story where we try to meet in picture the weekly theme she provides, which this week is from above...I am not certain how far above one must be. so, in view (1), the view from above was captured from the flood control walkway above the Naugatuck River - perhaps about 20 ft (6M) above the surface of the water. If not high enough, perhaps the other shot from a 737 much higher up. Both from above I'd say...

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Bricks and mortar

At the Maple Street Bridge, crossing the Naugatuck River, Ansonia Connecticut
Ruby Tuesday is back, and we adhere to the simple and basic premise: red, a lot or a little. Today it is a local view down the newly renovated Maple Street bridge in our town of Ansonia. The old factories are not as busy as in decades past. However, the factories were built in an industrial where equal amounts of brick and quality made impressive brick buildings. Though old, they maintain a functional charm and beauty many years later...Sorry about MMTs laptop!
