Shadow Shot Sunday - Autumn along the walk

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 returns this week as I return to last week and the 5K for the Center for Cancer Care. As I wheeled around the short course, the always extraordinary survivor Patti captured these as she walked the entire course. These scenes include the participants and the colors of early autumn in southern Connecticut beyond the change of color - the long southern sun leaves long shadows. To the left is in on Westfield Avenue in Ansonia in the early stages. To the right is nearer the end of the course along Coon Hollow Road in Derby - a long hill that was the bane of the runners, but with autumnal pastels and shadows too. Shadows add a bit more style to any seasonal view...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Sound shadows for a cause

The wheelchairs await riders as the storm clouds over Long Island Sound dissipate. Photo by Patti

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and shadowy last Sunday shots are featured today. Here is along the beach in West Haven CT at the Wheel-a-Thon for a disability rights non-profit, a non-competitive, awareness raising walk and/or wheelchair roll to raise college scholarships. Fun was had by all on all teams including ours in our team's pink shirts from last year's Griffin Hospital walk for Patti. Shadows were all over beautiful morning by Long Island Sound. Fun, awareness style and shadow work well together...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Walk/Run

L-R: Allegra, Sue, Patti, Rich,Michele, Max, Jim, Wendy - and me, behind the iPhone
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and my theme goes back to last Saturday to the 5K Walk/Run for The Center for Cancer Care. Since they have been so helpful to Patti in her recovery, she formed a team to participate. Patti thought that shirts would be a fine idea...

We commissioned our artist friend Rich to create a pink shirt our themes (duckies and bunnies maybe?). Allegra models the shirt in the morning mist...The team included my niece Sue who was taken up running and brought her unexcited daughter along in a runner stroller

A unique member of this intrepid team is Ansonia Mayor Jim Della Volpe, the only municipal executive I saw in the 550 participants to take part - I moved along the course via a pair of 24 volt motors :)

To the left, Patti and Rich have just completed the 3.1 mile course...

A fun day was had by all, and the mist dissipated into a nice day, and happier still was that the rain later was well past the event. Runners and walkers exercised, funds were raised for the cancer center wonderful and shadows captured - a nice morning stroll

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Shoreline walk/roll

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 highlights an event last Sunday that was fun and also involved wheelchairs. This event was the seventh annual fund-raiser Wheel-A-Thon hosted and run by my last employer (and now Alcam customer) the Center for Disability Rights in West Haven CT.

Prizes for the leading fund-rising teams
This event is a team walk along the West Haven (CT) shorewith an option to travel the course in a wheelchair. While there, I was taking pictures with my newre used IPhone 3G (son Cameron gave me his old phone when he purchased a new phone). With enough sun, the pictures worked out well, although my thumb got in the way – live and learn
A leader leads, so the ambulatory Director starts the event
Awaiting the results...

The walk was held at the West Haven shore walk along Long Island Sound. The weather cooperated as it was a stunning day for a walk/roll. Besides being a fun event, shadowy effects were all over. Patti blogged about it and she and Allegra signed the waiver and walked the course too - participants and photographers had a great time...
