Wordless Wednesday - Seymour Pink 5K

It's good to be back to the blog, last week my time was consumed for my running of the Ansonia Harvest Festival only to have to cancel it the day of the event on Saturday and spend today on refunds, etc. On the same day, the always lovely Patti participated with her cancer support group 'Circle of Friends' in the Pounding the Pavement for Seymour Pink 5K...her pictures were better than mine so here they are...see WW

SOOC - After the 5K Cooldown

We look for gems for Straight Out of the Camera - SOOC, that right now shot that might explain the details of the subject a bit more. Here is my nephew Adam, aged 8, after he completed the annual Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital 5K walk run in June. He actually ran the entire course and here after removing his shirt, sitting and seemingly in thought. Adam looks to be in thought, perhaps with the satisfaction that he succeeded in completing the course for a cause. He is a great kid...

Wordless Wednesday - The Griffin 5K

The annual 5K walk/run for the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. This lad at age 8 ran the course and actually kept up with running mom and completed the course (Congrats!). Pink tractors and the lovely staff made this fundraiser a success...see WW and WW

Shadow Shot Sunday - Autumn along the walk

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 returns this week as I return to last week and the 5K for the Center for Cancer Care. As I wheeled around the short course, the always extraordinary survivor Patti captured these as she walked the entire course. These scenes include the participants and the colors of early autumn in southern Connecticut beyond the change of color - the long southern sun leaves long shadows. To the left is in on Westfield Avenue in Ansonia in the early stages. To the right is nearer the end of the course along Coon Hollow Road in Derby - a long hill that was the bane of the runners, but with autumnal pastels and shadows too. Shadows add a bit more style to any seasonal view...

Whimsical Windows - The soothing views

Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors returns and although we often look at portals from the inside, today I look from the inside out. Here is looking outside from the lobby of the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital in Derby CT. We visited the center yesterday after the 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit the center where Patti hosted a walking team.

This view is what the patient receiving chemo sees a view of a waterfall and plantings from the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows in the treatment wing to the right. When Patti received her chemo treatments in 2011, not only was the staff most caring...perhaps soothing views like this helped the healing process as she is cancer free these days :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Scenes from the Griffin 5K

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 has returned and as we have returned from this morning's 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital. As the cancer survivor, Patti was able to recruit a team so we to participate in this day, a sea of pink (even the dog :) all about. I wheeled around the 'short' part of the course, so spent the time awaiting the rest of the team while capturing a few shadows in the meantime…My sister Sue (second row, middle) and the lovely survivor Patti and great friend Judy (lower right) return to the finish line. And the smiles are genuine on this beautiful morn.

Whimsical Windows - Center for Cancer Care

For Toby's fun architectural meme, Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors, I return merely to yesterday to the Griffin Hospital Center for Cancer Care in Derby Connecticut. We were there for the fourth annual 5K walk/run to benefit for the center. After we on Patti's Team McVillers team as well as the other 36 other teams completed the event, I used the phone to capture the entrance to this beautiful facility.

Opened in 2009, the subtle stone and hardwood styled trim is soothing on the eyes as one enters - and it is just is comfortable on the interior where treatment occurs...A great fundraising event, nice weather and nice looking building made for a great day!
