Tina's Pic Story - 'L' is for...

Linus and lazy...
Lawn and light
Tina's Pic Story is back - we provide the photos while she kindly provides the theme for this week, which is the alphabetical 'L' today. I am using two pictures to describe four themes: Linus (is) lazy and the front yard Lawn bathed in light. The themes complement the pics perfectly I'd say :)

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Bed Made (back then)

Ruby Tuesday 2 takes me back to 1997, and child Cam's room picked up and the bed made up neatly. The bedding of the day of course includes a bunny, a panda, a penguin, Snoopy and a ruby tartan clad bear - a ruby reminiscence of a seven-year old's room in the day...

Whimsical Windows - Above the Big Dig

Above the Big Dig in Boston, captured by photo princess passenger Patti
Toby is the host for the fun meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors, in which we look at architecture of interest. This summer view was found along Atlantic Avenue in Boston. This road actually sits over the Big Dig tunnel underneath that replaced the elevated I-93 Central Artery that cast shadows everywhere, this open street is full of light to view the architecture of the past.

In the foreground to the left at the is the Boston Grain and Flour Exchange Building, completed in 1892. Behind that is the Custom House tower (1915). The former looks like a castle, the skyscraper once the tallest building in Boston at 496 ft (151 M). Calling them 'distinctive' understates their style. I am unsure of today's use of the Exchange; the tower is the Marriott Custom House suite hotel…for me, the lesson is to have a designated photographer passenger ride along on any drive down the road…

SOOC - Straight Out Of the Camera - takes us back to the past decade and daughter Allegra exiting the waters of Barnstable's Craigville Beach on Cape Cod. Given her smile, the bobbing on the float in Nantucket Sound was a success...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Snowy Suburban Memories

8 February 1978, Wickham Drive, East Hartford
December 1963

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 arrives in the winter season up here. I am not a fan of winter so much these days, yet photos of long ago in East Hartford CT do leave lasting memories. These seen before and recently re-edited photos do reinforce memories...

Since we are near the 35th anniversary of the 'Blizzard Larry' (as Channel 3 in Hartford called it) of February 6-7 1978 on Wickham Drive in East Hartford. With no snow-thrower at home, many kids were needed to finally move the 24 inches (61 cm) of not-so-fluffy snow. At least we were left with snow Alp shadows.

The old picture is from around Christmas 1963 and maybe 4in/10cm, a far more pleasant snowfall. I believe Grandpa is in the window, directing my father in taking the picture from the road. Seasonal snowy shadowy scenes both...
