A mighty fortress on Craigville Beach? Photo by Patti
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 arrives again, and although it has been a warm(ish) winter this year, it is still the season it is. Naturally, we have desires to warm things up a bit so how about a trek to the beach, This view promotes sand, surf, saltwater, seaweed, sun and...a shadow! This fortress looks as if it may disappear after the next high tide. In which case, intrepid sand architect and builder can begin anew...to see shadowy specimens showcased, see SSS2!
I love your shadow shot for the day, Ralph! It speaks of beaches and sunshine and summer -- all of which I'm longing for! Hope you and Patti have a great weekend -- with some sunshine, hopefully!
oh yes, the dreams of summer. the sand castle and surf is like the gift of a new day...yesterday is washed away...giving us a new slate. love it ralph!!
Oh to be on the beach ....... actually I don't like beinng on a beach particularly, as the sand gets everywhere!! Fun shadow shot! We are havung a much milder winter here in Scotland. although parts of England have been harder hit.
Sun and sand. Here in Fuerteventura sun was hiding the whole day today...People walking with their winter jackets on. But soon this is over and we can enjoy summer again!!! Happy Sunday!
Dear Ralph This reminds me of what fun I would have at the lonely cold Atlantic beach I haunted as a child .. I loved it ! There is nothing like the smell of sea air .. the sand on our feet .. digging in and having fun like this. Thank you and Patti for reminding me ? LOL Joy
Your accompanying commentary really did put a grin on my face. All of my family belong to the OCD Sandbuilder’s Club. We are pathetic. For one week each summer we build them up only to watch them tumble down. Our favorite is to watch the neighboring children stomp and jump on it as the tide is coming in. We all live to rebuild the next day. We haul enough stuff with us to sink a ship...and we check out books from the library on sand castle building. We LOVE our sand castles, and I LOVE your post. Thanks for allowing me a short trip down memory lane tonight. genie
Who would have thought....going to the beach in February! My daughter, who lives in Boston, is amazed this year. She reminds me all the time of shoveling her car out this time last year.
Now, I am craving to fly somewhere warm. We still have the white stuff and our temp is going down. Good sign. And in 4 weeks, it will be Spring (NOT)...

Castles in the sand
Protected by walls
That crumble too soon.
That was my shot at Haiku. Oh well, I'll stick to photography! The lovely Patti did a nice job on this Shadow Shot. Happy SSS.

Agreed, I could go for a warm, sandy beach right about now :)
Great shadows! Have a super week!
I dream too from the summer, sun, shadows on the beach ...

I see some toes peeking out of the shadows in this photo!
I fear for this castle's defenses.
Fun shadow shot!

Like a fortress from Celtic times... well weathered but still recognisable! Lovely play of shadows adds an element of mystery!
I notice how you start to post the war weather shots about this time of the year! Can't say that I blame you! Makes me want to go (to the beach).
I can smell the salt air and hear the Gulls!
Great capture and thanks for the memories soon to come!

Mighty close to being washed away, if you ask me!

I bet kids will tell stories about UFO and kidnapping, and aliens eating children, just by looking at the fortress.
Love your shadow shot for this week Ralph. Nothing like building a mighty fortress on a sunny Summers day.
Have a great week.
A shadow or a slumbering bear?
Very interesting shades and textures in this shot..
You really a great chaser bro!

For me...there is nothing better to view than a sandy landscape with such artistic value as this you've shared!!
I love your sandy shadowy shot. So lovely, great textures and contrasts, and soon to be overtaken by the forces.
Wish I could go to the beach right now haha, we have a good bit of snow yesterday and today.
Thanks for the warm sunny sand shot. It gives us hope for warmer days to come. Plus, the beach is always a Great place for taking photos.
Great shadow for the week! Love the mis of sand and shadow! Only a few months to go to see that!
