Shadow Shot Sunday - Spring sun

It is a glorious Spring day in the Ansonia Uplands, if quite chilly (54°F / 13°C) for 23 May, with lots of sun.

As we are awaiting for someone to haul away our old queen size bed (mattress, headboard, etc.), I found mundane subjects for Shadow Shot Sunday 2 as I wheeled around the driveway.

Using my old cheap Droid phone camera, the driveway contained bold shadows of the Grand Caravan (and myself in my 'directors chair), and the old Malibu quite nicely - these pixelated views are a mere 30 minutes old.

It will be sunny and 75°F tomorrow...a better representation of the season!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Spring Cleanup

Pastor Jim is also a gardener...
Parishioners mulch...

Curb appeal enhanced as winter road sand is removed

For the weekly meme Shadow Shot Sunday 2, shadows were aplenty in April as the Spring cleanup at our house of worship, the First Congregational Church of Derby (CT).

The 1842 building is the classic old white church seen all over New England greens, and after an unusually cold Winter, a cleanup of the winter grunge, new plantings and sand removal is in order. Patti's capture offers us  well defined shadows too.

Spring indeed has sprung...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Spring, ideally

It is Shadow Shot Sunday 2 and seasonal change should be in order. Spring is a season of contrasts, a new beginning. After a cold and snowy winter, we look forward to an improving picture of nice weather. Not today, alas - it is snowing again (see this morning's pic on the left). Yet, we have proof, sun as opposed to gray, turf instead of snow, and of course shadows, So we hope for bluer and drier skies...someday...

SOOC - Snowy Bird

It has been an unusually cold winter in Southern Connecticut, the coldest on record (since 1905) in some towns in this small state. However, this Straight out of the Camera (SOOC) capture of a bird in a tree in the back yard with a mere hint of snow seems to suggest that Spring may be here soon. Warmer temps and melted snow would feel like seasonal change was in fact here...but the bird lets me know that the change will be soon :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Snowless Spring in 1948

Grandpa, Easter Sunday 1948. No snow!
Aunt Terry, Easter Sunday 1948, in the Spring
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and the snow sits in our yard at about the same height it did one month ago, unmelted on one of the coldest February in Connecticut. So, I looked for pics of a cold day without snow - thus I revert back to what I believe to be Easter, 28 March 1948. There are no leaves in Steubenville Ohio and no snow. I'd long for no snow on the ground and the end - of this season...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Speedy Seasonal Scenic

It's time again for Shadow Shot Sunday 2...the post is late as we had to leave early to attend the First Communion of a niece in East Windsor, about 50 miles (80 kM) north. So as to not to ignore the shadowy world, I drove the always lovely front seat passenger Patti was the designated photographer.

Today, these shots were taken on the way up and are northbound on the Wilbur Cross Parkway, CT Route 15. It is old (1949) and today, sans the usual weekday commuter hordes (and upon new Firestone tires), a nice ride upstate. The left is us going uphill to the soon to arrive downhill which will then go uphill to the West Rock Tunnel. Spring colors and shadows work nicely together for a shadowy post. Hate to miss SSS2...

Tina's WW - Awaiting Spring...

Yes, upon the warm season of Spring, planting and landscaping will be in order - Winter has too much cold and snow - we have places to plant all of these...see Tina's WW
