Tina's Pic Story - Old

Tina's Pic Story reappears, and we add the picture to complement Tina's chosen theme, which today is Old...This view is old to our eyes in 2012. Yet the subject, my father, is not at all and rather young as he is photographed in the middle of the crowd. The place is unknown (Steubenville?), the time perhaps in the mid-late 1930s given ths sign that says NLRB. As to what defines 'old' vs. 'not old' may depend on our own point of view...

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Stars, Stripes on Display

Ruby Tuesday 2 reappears and we in the US are getting ready to celebrate Independence Day this Wednesday 4 July. The flag is all over, even on this car, a 1972 Oldsmobile 4-4-2. The car is nice, the flag special. Ruby reds are always in style, and some even deserve a salute...

Whimsical Windows - Stately State Street

Nice condo conversion along State Street in Boston
Toby's fun meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors is back.Today I return to a trip to Boston where our hotel was within the financial district in Boston. The Board of Trade building captures the classic trim that perhaps indicated a building built for special purposes. I believe that these are very nice apartments now constructed inside. And I really like the teal detailing inside the granite arches. Stunning in its massive size but feeling delicate as well...

On last weeks post, I alluded to the lovely Patti as having been part of the reveal for the Ghost Hunter TV series at the Sterling Opera House...Patti is Here (at about 5:00 in the light blue jacket). The only video I could find has these odd Spanish subtitles...I believe it first ran in April 2011...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Shadowy estate

Shadow Shot Sunday is back, and shadow hunting is our forte. However, one need not go on a safari for shadowy captures - they may be hiding in plain sight in our lives and domains...

As it was hot yesterday along the east coast of the US, and with only two rooms available of the cooling A/C, dinner (Connecticut Grote&Weigel hot dogs and a large red bell pepper) would be grilled over charcoal and dining would be on the patio. From nearby, shadows beckoned...

The patio sits above the hill of our back yard. The entree had just been placed over the gray and orange coals by Cameron. Patti had the point and shoot and I spotted these...

The thicket of flora sits at the bottom, and the late evening sun played off the leaves and grass - I asked and Patti kindly captured these views of the encroaching vegetation. Shadows sought and found. Happy SSS2!

Tina's Pic Story - Under the tree

A quiet summer morning under the mulberry tree in the Ansonia Uplands

An unseasonal snow on 29 October 2011 weighs the leafy branches down
Tina's Pic Story is back - we add the pictures that match the theme which this week for is under the tree. My example this week is the mulberry tree in our front yard, in two distinct seasons. For the summer, the tree adds an elegant shadow underneath its canopy of leaves. For the other, the leaves are touching the ground, the leafy branches full of wet and heavy from a freak October snowstorm. The contrast is total, from peaceful to nearly destructive. Same tree, different scenarios under the same tree...
