Shadow Shot Sunday - Shifty Supermarket Shadows

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and I was looking for shadows at a local shopping center with the (older) I-Phone 3GS given to me by son Cameron. Alas, the autumnal sunshine on this fine day was too strong to capture sights in the dazzling solar sky. Yet when I moored the Dodge into my preferred spot at the plaza - and noticed inside the vehicle a few clearly defined shadows. So in this collage, the MPD shift lever extension shows up in shadow by the steering wheel, and its snaky shape shows up on the passenger door - and the inside rearview mirror too. So, shadows captured, the door was opened and the ramp deployed and the shopping trek could now begin...see scads of shadowy art at the fun SSS2

Tina's Pic Story - 'J'

Jungle Cat Rigby
January in the Ansonia Uplands

Lemon Chicken made from lemon Juice

Tina's Pic Story is back! The rule is simple - we provide the photos to match her theme. which this week is the letter 'J'.

Animals, weather and food are the subjects, yet none of the subjects by name contain that letter...

I trust that my examples meet the challenge!

Ruby Tuesday 2 - End of the season (really)

Ruby Tuesday 2 reminds us that the season for native tomatoes is done in Southern New England. On top is the very last one of our homegrown fruit - on the bottom the local farmer's market tomatoes are getting smaller. A salad with a homemade honey mustard dressing is the perfect place to enjoy the last. Oh well the may say, but wait until next year - easier to say now but when we must endure the faraway grown things that merely look like a tomato...

Whimsical Windows - Tall Spire

Toby hosts the fun architectural meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors. This week I am staying local and offer views from our neighboring town of Derby Connecticut. This is St. Mary's Church on Elizabeth Street. This was a house of worship primarily for the Irish immigrants that moved to this area for work starting in the mid-1890s, and due to this growth, a new building was needed, and fast. Thus, the cornerstone was laid down on September 23, 1906 and completed on July 4, 1907, a true accomplishment. I have been unable to find the height of the spire but do guess it to be around 200 feet - and even taller feeling as it sits on a hill above the road (and of course I sit even lower than most :). Visit this fun meme for windows and doors of note...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Cool Customline

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and I revert to a favorite of mine, now the desktop photo on the computer. It is the mixture of bold colors, chrome, reflections and of course, shadows. The car a 1955 Ford Customline, the lower priced Ford of that year (Fairlane the top) - even the less opulent models had plenty of chrome as standard equipment - not optional.

The obvious shadows fall under the car itself, from the V8 emblem and under myself and Allegra. A sunny day also allows for the two if us to show up twice in the many shiny and curvaceous arcs and contours. Cars from back then were not very good compared to today - but what style! Follow the shadowy world at the great SSS2!
