Ruby Tuesday 2 - Restaurant row

Ruby Tuesday 2 is back, and our mission is to locate reds in any venue. Perhaps at an eatery if we wish...and on Main Street in Ansonia will be a new restaurant Koi - for a smallish town like ours (19,000), a Japanese restaurant may seem a bit exotic - so we are ready to visit at the earliest (after it open that is :)

This was once the well known and well visited Pilgrim BBQ - which was also red in looks (not just the sauce). I chose an older view of the old place during the 2010 Memorial Day parade. The owner retired, an d with a few empty storefronts on Main Street, who wouldn't be pleased that it lives on as a restaurant?

Whimsical Windows - Vacations almost over

Toby hosts the delightful Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors where portals are the destination. Today I offer a digital print from 2003.

We are at our vacation motel, the Hyannis Inn, right in the middle of touristy Main Street on Cape Cod. The motel pool is inside and under cover out of the direct sun. The kids loved to play in the pool there as we do not have one at home. I chose this view to post as the windows are not so whimsical - but daughter Allegra has that satisfied look that all is fun in the water

Ah, vacations...we took more of them until the kids went to college. So, staycations are the rule these days, alas...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Shadows and breadsticks

The Marco Polo (MP) Restaurant in East Hartford CT is my theme for Shadow Shot Sunday 2. Located on Burnside Avenue at the east end of an 'S' curve, this iconic landmark takes me back to my old hometown. Even though we now live an hour away, I haven't been here for decades.

I found an old washed out color print of me from 1977. Back then, I ate here more than any other restaurant in the Hartford area - the best warm breadsticks with kosher salt baked onto the underside (crying out for real butter - never could lose weight at the MP :)
I imagine that the pizza and Chicken Marsala has not changed...the original photo was printed on that 1970s textured paper and is not in great shape. So B&W and sepia edits still include the shadowy apéritif. Breadsticks anyone?

Wordless Wednesday

Parents feel that their children may still be kids even at their advanced ages of 23 and 21. They may grow, although our sentiments are still in the 1990's...see WW at Tina and w/Joy

Tina's Pic Story - My favorite color

Tina's Pic Story returns with a simple challenge: my favorite color. I must say it's Blue, something that I seem to use subconsciously from the clothing I purchase to some of the vehicles I have owned to the sea to the sky. So, a collage is in order - some of my favorite blues (including the blog administrator :)

I am enjoying the theme this week!
