The rewarding morn after the snowstorm. 27 Jan 2011
Snow, sun, shadow - a trifecta. 27 Jan 2011
I may be a fan of a four-season climate, but not necessarily one of the cold and snow. The current winter is a bit warmer and not as snowy as this year. So for this Shadow Shot Sunday 2, I am commuting back in in time to 2011 where we received way more snow, as these pictures attest. These pictures have been seen before, yet the untouched blanket of snow under a brilliant sun is pure white with the dappled shadows intruding nicely. Tonight, it is raining - not nearly so attractive. The snowy scape is much nicer looking if not so nice to live with...see seasonal shadows at SSS2!
Tina offers us the always fun weekly photo meme Pic Story. Happily I am back this week, and have for my submittal for the letter 'I' which for me is Icy. The day in question is 27 January 2011, the morning after the forth snowstorm of 15 in (38 cm) since the preceding Christmas from each of those storms. In southern Connecticut, that is way too much snow in a four week period...but plenty of icy conditions for this month's letter challenge!
Although I prefer spring, summer and autumn to that winter...
Parents feel that their children may still be kids even at their advanced ages of 23 and 21. They may grow, although our sentiments are still in the 1990's...see WW at Tinaandw/Joy
Ruby Tuesday 2reappears in this generally warm New England winter. Is the weather this year typical? Au contraire!
It is not at all like last year. We see here 12 January 2011, and in the new snow blankets everything except the two small rubies: a neighbor's house and the stop sign on the corner. What a difference...See many more reds at RT2!
Tina hosts the fun Pic Story, where we supply the pictures and she provides the weekly theme.
This week's is Last Year, that being 2011. It was full of snowy events - we live closer to Long Island Sound and with slightly more moderate (but cold) temperatures and not that much snow. Until last year, that is.
This is a view out the back door on 4 February. So many roofs were collapsing around here due to the weight of the snow, so we hired two men (for $275) to shovel the snow off our roof prior to a big ice storm. Of course, there was only one place for the snow to fall...this winter has been much quieter!
