Ruby Tuesday Too - Bounce House

Ruby Tuesday Too is back as I return to yesterday and to the Greater Valley Salvation Army Back-to-School Fun Fest. As Patti and I are on the local Advisory Board, we were there for the festivities that Patti has written of for her Newspaper Blog (with more pics too :) For my ruby, I chose the bounce house above the wall behind the parking lot. It was well utilized by many a laughing child...

Whimsical Windows - Gazebo on Green

Toby's Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors is back, and I offer this week an autumnal view of a classic gazebo on the center green of small city Derby CT. Actually, the gazebo was built in the 1990s but does have the style and charm of a century ago. It offers a contrast to the building behind it built in the 1970s: angular, plain windows and generally non-descript. Oddly enough, the multi-family house in the background likely was built over 100 years ago. The many eras in style or actuality are well represented here...

SOOC - Dog Day

Security of all types was present at the event...
SOOC is back. With my phone at the ready last Monday, I attended the ceremonial opening of the new West Haven (CT) train station. With the governor and dignitaries present, the police presence was great: MTA (railroad), CT and West Haven police departments were there. Along with many canine police officers, mostly Yellow Labs. They rested on this warm humid day - but ready to spring into action if needed. And happily, it was not :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Mesa mystery

Three well-dressed gentlemen in front of a mesa in the Grand Canyon State, (1937?)
License plate mystery solved?
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 and my namesake grandfather - it's not necessarily new for me as I have been chronicling the distant family past for awhile now (as Patti knows :). Yet my father's sole sibling, Aunt Terry has been following these photo memes and sent me another box of old photos a couple of weeks ago full of photos I haven't yet seen...
Always interesting is not knowing the background of the shot at all - so I merely guess.

The three gentlemen, Grandpa in the middle, are obviously on the way to someplace special since they are wearing nicely tailored suits - in the desert? Maybe this is on U.S. 60 west from New Mexico?

More interesting are the two license plats on the car. his usual Ohio 'RV' plate and another - his radio license? The second photo, taken in 1977 or 1978, may explain that - the 1937 Ohio tag and...the 1937 radio license? I cannot say - however, along with the shadows, I do like a mystery...

Ruby Tuesday Too - Garden Delights

Ruby Tuesday Too is a meme allows us to focus on ruby delights. And in August (up north), nothing compares to home grown tomatoes in our potted garden. Like these - they sit on the counter as they have fallen on the ground and the red ones are 95% ripe. They will wind up in a tomato, mozzarella and basil salad this weekend. The views are with and without a flash and either way the ruby glow attracts us to the sweet summer fruit!
