Shadow Shot Sunday - Autumn along the walk
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 returns this week as I return to last week and the 5K for the Center for Cancer Care. As I wheeled around the short course, the always extraordinary survivor Patti captured these as she walked the entire course. These scenes include the participants and the colors of early autumn in southern Connecticut beyond the change of color - the long southern sun leaves long shadows. To the left is in on Westfield Avenue in Ansonia in the early stages. To the right is nearer the end of the course along Coon Hollow Road in Derby - a long hill that was the bane of the runners, but with autumnal pastels and shadows too. Shadows add a bit more style to any seasonal view...

Ruby Tuesday - Ruby leaves falling up

| An uphill climb. By Patti |
Ruby Tuesday Too returns in this autumnal season. Of course we think of red leaves falling from the trees down - not falling up as these leaves on the ivy are going uphill on this maple tree at the bottom of our back yard. An illusion or is gravity being defied here?

Whimsical Windows - The soothing views
Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors returns and although we often look at portals from the inside, today I look from the inside out. Here is looking outside from the lobby of the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital in Derby CT. We visited the center yesterday after the 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit the center where Patti hosted a walking team. This view is what the patient receiving chemo sees a view of a waterfall and plantings from the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows in the treatment wing to the right. When Patti received her chemo treatments in 2011, not only was the staff most caring...perhaps soothing views like this helped the healing process as she is cancer free these days :)

Shadow Shot Sunday - Scenes from the Griffin 5K

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 has returned and as we have returned from this morning's 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital. As the cancer survivor, Patti was able to recruit a team so we to participate in this day, a sea of pink (even the dog :) all about. I wheeled around the 'short' part of the course, so spent the time awaiting the rest of the team while capturing a few shadows in the meantime…My sister Sue (second row, middle) and the lovely survivor Patti and great friend Judy (lower right) return to the finish line. And the smiles are genuine on this beautiful morn.

Whimsical Windows - Ancient, modern and current
Toby hosts the fun meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors in which we look for portals and other architectural tidbits of interest. Yesterday, our small city of 19000, Ansonia, had its yearly street fest harvest Festival where vendors of all types, including food, were all over. Along main Street in the municipal parking lot, the bounce house and other children friendly diversions. Of interest is the variety of buildings: at the top, is some industrial building from 1905 now used as a warehouse and the 1970s office building on the left. Neither building is really unique, but show the passing time. The amorphous shaped bounce house offers no artistry, as the four year old does not yet yet appreciate architecture yet...
