Ruby Tuesday - Unburied red

A 1996 Neon is unearthed on 9 Feb - captured by Patti

Ruby Tuesday 2 returns on a crisp and sunny day of 60°F/16°C today (only 8°C tomorrow though...)

Nevertheless, a ruby view from 9 February and the massive Blizzard of 2013. It is of course Allegra's 1996 Plymouth Neon beginning to be unearthed after the 36 inch/ 95 cm snowfall. Why this ruby memory now? So we can more fully appreciate the exit of Winter...Happy and warm RT greetings to all :)

Ruby Tuesday - Colorful Church Glass

Ruby Tuesday 2 and stained glass - are a perfect pairing. We attend a Congregational church in nearby Derby. Built in 1821, the sanctuary structure is the usual Puritan stark* - white, wood, angular and no frills nor style. Just like its 17-19th century dour practitioners. However, the offices and meeting room were built after 1900 have many a stained glass window that were donated by worshipers. These portals look magnificent with sunlight light filtering through the artistic and colorful effects. Lots of ruby for RT2...

* - Unlike the US Episcopalian church which derived from the Anglican/Church of England - those churches tend to be more ornate than the white buildings that dot the New England town squares. Not Westminster ornate perhaps, but not undecorated white wood either...

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Angry (not really)

Ruby Tuesday 2 arrives at a great time - the perfect red for today is my birthday present from the week before last. It is, naturally, a brilliant ruby, the Red Angry Bird.

I never thought they were all that angry, merely adorable with nary a sneer

I like the game on the computer (haven't tried it yet on the phone), so am really enthused about this as a gift - even at my age :)

See reds, plush or not, at the always fun RT2, today hosted by haiku master and poet MMT...

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Fire protection past-present

Ruby Tuesday 2 is back, and we look for rubies in small or large doses, and even in different eras...Patti and I were in a new attraction in our small (19,000) city, the Ansonia Fire Museum built as part of an old and now restored school. Though not open to the public yet, we were on an informal tour of the great displays of trucks and firefighter gear.

This picture jumped at me - a late 19th century horse-drawn fire wagon in the foreground from Webster Hose Company. The red sits all over this classic apparatus. Behind is something completely different in era - a modern fire suppression system. The differences from horse-drawn to computerized is cool, the way once good enough then to state of the art now I find intriguing. With plenty of red to capture our attention! See more ruby at RT2!

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Speedy Chevrolets

1962 Impala SS 409
1967 Malibu SS, 427

Ruby Tuesday 2 arrives with retro rubies captured when they were not moving....

In the 1960s, hot were endowed with speed. The manufacturer thus added little badges to let the world know that you had hardware the other guys didn't have. The little die cast and ruby painted signs from 1962 and 1967. Both vehicles were immaculate restorations, and since I really like old cars, I saw the potential for a post!

Ruby Tuesday - The opposite of white

Ruby Tuesday 2 reappears in this generally warm New England winter. Is the weather this year typical? Au contraire!

It is not at all like last year. We see here 12 January 2011, and in the new snow blankets everything except the two small rubies: a neighbor's house and the stop sign on the corner. What a difference...See many more reds at RT2!
