Ruby Tuesday 2 - Ripe and ready

Ruby Tuesday 2 arrives a day after a visit to the Ansonia Farmer's Market, where the local tomatoes are vine ripened rubies. Fresh, I sliced them as thins as our cheap sharpened knives could allow - our homegrown ones are not quite ready. So the idea was to stack the fruit along with other items to make supper with...

All photos by Allegra
The final choice was to make each stack from bottom to top as follows: mozzarella, tomato, capicola ham, basil leaves, tomato, mozzarella, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. With Allegra's help, we placed two stacks into each hard roll and made panini sandwiches in a pan with unopened tomato cans to weigh them down. A satisfying dinner with plenty of ruby as a side dish...See more world-wide rubies at RT2!

Whimsical Windows - Union Church

Toby hosts the fun and informative meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors where we look for portals and other architectural goodies. The subject today is the Union Church in the village of Rockville Connecticut, about 20 miles east of Hartford.

The church website notes a very interesting history. It was organized in 1888 as a union of two churches, both of which burned down four days apart that year and joined together into a new house of worship....architect Warren Hayes designed it, and the cornerstone was placed in June 1889, and the church was dedicated in September 1890, from. It is an example of Richardson Romanesque architecture, and constructed of gray Monson granite from nearby western Massachusetts

Lots of history is close to most of us if we pay attention - so this is a perfect place to showcase them

Shadow Shot Sunday - Tuesday Concert in Derby

Shadowy singer and saxophonist
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back - we eagerly looks for shadows to fall and drape themselves over as many appropriate shadows as possible - and we are able to find and harvest when found...The time was last week, and the place was nearby Derby on the city green by the gazebo for the free summer concerts. Today the really fun act 'Dr Ya Ya's Dirty Rice Revue', Connecticut musicians that play songs by New Orleans artists and songwriters (we know by tune if not title)

Well defined early evening lighting
This was not just a warm and humid evening of a highly energetic and fun music (an improvisational R&B) on a small town green, there were also late afternoon shadows all over the pavilion and band...what better than this for (1) free and (2) SSS2?

This old song was played by Dr YaYa in a similar raucous style: Sea Cruise, by NOLA songwriter Huey 'Piano' Smith and artist Frankie Ford

Tina's Pic Story - Azure

Intercostal Waterway near Stuart, Florida, Dec. 1980
Wetlands near Jensen Beach Florida, Dec. 1980
Tina is back with the fun weekly picture meme Pic Story. Simply, she thoughtfully provides the theme which this week is azure. To me, this is a color that fits the waters of Florida and a trip there many decades ago. The inland waterway and the swamp have azure blue waters that have remained while scanned from the old prints. A lovely color and a great subject this week!
