Ruby Tuesday 2 reappears, and we look for red in many ways: microscopic or massive. I have chosen the latter...at yesterday's Fathers Day car show at the Shelton History Center, I was (as usual) intrigued by the sight of chrome laden 1950s American barges with their styling excesses.
Especially when I stumbled into this, a massive 1958 Chevrolet Impala painted in acres of red. It was sooooo long that two frames were needed to capture its ruby goodness - there is plenty of it :) See more ruby goodness at RT2

Whimsical Windows - One room schoolhouse
Toby hosts the fun architectural meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors - we look at interesting architecture, portals and such. Today we attended a Father's Day car show at the Shelton (CT) History Center, about 20 minutes from home. Obviously, I am an old car freak, especially the large, 1950s chrome laden American barges. However, I have an interest in many other subjects as well - such as the one room Trap Fall School. Opened in 1872, this structure harkens back to an agrarian era long gone and was donated to the Society after spending part of its past life as a storage shed - that is stands still reminds us of preserving history as best we can - lest we forget its lessons...

Shadow Shot Sunday - Fathers past and present...

However, as a father himself, the pride and happiness of our children is to be celebrated too. From the past as a child to the present day, it is a fine holiday. Add shadows, and it becomes a perfect day!

Tina's Pic Story - Liquid
Tina hosts the fun Pic Story, where she kindly supplies the weekly photo theme and we comply with our pics. This week the theme is Liquid and I look to a family meal at a local restaurant. The aperitif drinks offer such liquid, such as the delicious and stylish drinks enjoyed by two in our party - the cosmopolitan (Cosmo), a tart and tasty cocktail that is a nice peach color. The glasses are uniquely stylish too. I am unsure if what was in the other, but it was liquid-y as well. I think that I met the theme :)

Whimsical Windows - Vertically Challenged
Toby is the host of the fun architectural meme, Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors - we look at interesting bits of buildings. Today is another view of Hartford taken by Patti - who safely is not the driver - from I-91 North. The vertical motif is the theme, from light stanchions to buildings, all seem to be rising to the sky. The more classic building here is the Travelers Insurance tower, opened in 1919 and sits a stately 34 stories high at 527 ft/161 M. The rest of the skyline was built from the late 1960s-1999 and has little of the charm from decades past and is mostly nondescript. But all together compel us to look up (except when driving that is :)
