For Shadow Shot Sunday 2, I go back two weeks to the Relay for Life in Shelton. Patti was meeting her Circle of Friends support group for lunch and a few laps around the course in honor of cancer survivors and supporters. The lovely day was nice in temps (78°F / 26°C), blue skies and enough sun to crete many a shadow. Which Patti captured in the flapping tent and my wheeled escape. A great event with shadowy scenes...

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 today is just before Father's Day in the USA. To some it may be an artificial holiday designed to sell, in non-equal measures, gifts of greeting cards and gas grilles.

It is a day to enjoy the best of being a day, the children. Naturally they are big now, our son a software developer in New York City and our daughter currently obtaining her Masters in Education. So it is hoped that I have imparted valuable lessons to them and that the will do what's right. Not an artificial holiday at all...

Ruby Tuesday Too - Fine Event Flapping Flag

Ruby Tuesday Too compels us to look for red, a lot or a little. For me today, I showcase the red stripes on a large flag flying from a Shelton CT ladder fire truck...and a poster that sits along the route. The event that hosted this was the local Relay for Life on Saturday to celebrate those who have survived (and those who sadly have not). As Patti is now a three year survivor, she walked laps with her Circle of Friends support group, clad in pink. The ruby thus flies high and deservedly so...

Whimsical Windows - Veterans Memorial, Derby

Toby hosts the architectural meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors, and we look for interesting subjects. Today, it is the Veterans Memorial Building in our neighboring town of Derby CT, the photos taken about four hours ago on a stunningly beautiful day of blue skies, low humidity and pleasant temperature of 80°F / 27°C . I do not know when it was built, but believe it was early 20th century. Since 2002, It hosts local veterans organizations such as the VFW and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Whatever its history, it remains a good looking building that helps to remind us of those who served...

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 returns in late Spring as I present a view from earlier in the season. We are in Ansonia on the greenway perched upon the flood control wall next to the Naugatuck River, In the background is the Metro North commuter railroad just leaving the trestle on the way South. With shadows that look as wavy as the chop on the river. Sun, shadow and Spring - a trifecta for this Saturday's Belmont Stakes and SSS2!
