Shadow Shot Sunday - Wedding

It has been a week since the wedding of the year (for an extended family that is), and the outdoor ceremony was of a perfect day for an outdoor wedding - with shadows too.

Thus for Shadow Shot Sunday 2, I return to the exquisite Avon Old Farms Hotel. Our son came up from Brooklyn with his new suit (and being the great kid he is, he brought two new ties for the new suit and let his mom pick the tie :) and the always lovely Patti and our daughter with their new dresses.

So while I looked for shadows, I found a few...what a great day, and congrats to the lovely newlyweds Julie and Luis!

Wordless Wednesday - Brooklyn Eatery

When visiting our son in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, we dined at a cool eatery Cafe Madeline. I had a cheddar chive egg biscuit, the others something with bacon and arugula on sourdough. Photogenic and tasty too...see WW and WW

Whimsical Windows - Welcome for the Holidays

Toby most graciously hosts the architectural meme Whimsical Windows/Delirious Doors, and in this season of holidays, I showcase such a holiday venue, a relative's home in Connecticut.

This nice house belongs to a relative where had last year's  family Christmas Eve Yankee Swap, a place where my siblings and their generational offspring meet every year.

It is a nice house, understated in decoration. The entrance is what we notice, but what is it? Check the ramps leading up to the front door - my wheelchair is equally welcome here, a 5-ft ramp to the porch, a 3-ft ramp over the threshold. A grand entrance for me is the welcome from a great extended family!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Thankful, on more than one day

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 occurs two days after the US Thanksgiving Day holiday, where we are  thankful for all our blessings. Thanks are given all year, of course, for a great family...and shadows too :)

Ruby Tuesday Too - Eatery bathed in red...

Bold ruby neon sign atop Angellino's Restaurant, Vernon, CT...captured by Patti
On Friday evening, we attended a 60th surprise birthday party for my brother-in-law, who was really surprised! Fun and excellent food for all, from the recipient to the 30 guests.

As this is for Ruby Tuesday Too the search for red takes us to the venue - Angelno's Restaurant in Vernon CT, and it is perfect. Patti saw and captured the huge ruby neon sign on the roof which is both bold (its ruby intensity) and subtle (the soft ruby glow on the roof shingles). Thus, it fits the mood for this week's meme :)

Ruby Tuesday Too - Ruby Pink

Ruby Tuesday Too allows us to continue our quest of finding a lot or a little red in any setting.

Here it is the soft pinkish color combined with the red sneakers to meet the theme with a hint of cute for emphasis :)

The year is 1996, the month July, daughter Allegra and two cousins at a family function. Cute may be an understatement here, but the now grown trio might prefer that term to adorable these days. The quest for rubies knows no limitations...

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Christmas wrap-up

Holiday rubies and more, 24 December 2012, East Hartford, CT

Ruby Tuesday 2 returns as the Christmas holiday season has now passed. Since ruby predominates during that season, one more peek at December decorations might be in order :)

The day is Christmas Eve, 24 December at the family get together at my sister's house in East Hartford. Inside the house, gifts, food, children and this table of holiday items: the ornament tree, the angel and the lamp from the movie A Christmas Story. A fun trio of style. See more ruby from any/all seasons at the fun RT2!

Ruby Tuesday - Merry 1975

Clan Villers of Wickham Drive, 24 December 1975

Ruby Tuesday 2 returns us to Christmas Eve 1975 at the family homestead in East Hartford, CT. It includes all seven of us kids and a niece and nephew and now-ex. Plenty of ruby worn in this nice memory of holidays past...

Thanksgiving every day

The family together, Ansonia Uplands, first day of school, 1996

Thanksgiving is here - we all are thankful for our blessing that we have - but often do not see in real time.

For me, thankfulness is for my wonderful family, the loves of my life and source of strength.

Yes, the world can be fraught with danger and despair - we rely on our bonds of care and kindness to carry on - thanks must be given...not just today but every day.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to everyone everywhere!

Ruby Tuesday 2 - Side order

The return of Ruby Tuesday 2 takes me back a coupe of weeks to a tomato laden panini.

We brought Cameron bak for his final semester at the U-of-Hartford with (1) Grand Caravan and (1) Neon full of collegiate living items and a total of (4) persons to transport said goods to West Hartford four days before the freshmen arrived - and confusion was avoided as we survived two freshman move-in Saturdays over the years...

We all stopped at Tapas restaurant in Bloomfield for lunch after the unloading. One of the specials was this chicken bruschetta panini surrounded by a lightly toasted ciabatta roll; another ruby was that spicy ketchup to dip the best waffle fries ever into. Happily free refills on the iced tea helped with the heat...Tasty red rubies are a Tuesday special not on the menu - and thoroughly enjoyed

Shadow Shot Sunday - Independence Day Doings

The preliminary task is setting the table with paper, plastic and condiments
Cam cooks burgers ant bratwurst over charcoal
Shadow Shot Sunday 2 is back, and we persevere in our shadowy quest. Today reverts back three days to 4 July, to celebrate our day of Independence in the US for the 236th time. Fireworks displays are common, and we saw these in downtown Derby the night before. Naturally with many people off work on this holiday, families dining together outdoors is very common as well - with a side order of sun and shadow...

Dinner is being served
Friends and family share in the shadow and shade

The charcoal flame has an orange glow, the humidity and high clouds not enough to douse the shadowy effects. Family and friend celebrate living in a free land together...see shadows from free people all over at the fun SSS2!
